| This legendary fort, once famous for its diamond market, was the capital of Qutub Shahi Kings who ruled the surrounding territories from 1518 to 1687. Now partly in ruins, it was a massive structure with a walled enclosure and eight gates. The fort was attacked twice by the Mughal Emperor Aurangazeb who succeeded in capturing it on his second attempt in 1687 with the help of a treacherous Qutub Shahi General after a siege of eight months.
